FAQ

Are you accepting new clients?

I am currently accepting new clients. I have some appointment times available during the day between 10am and 4pm on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. The majority of my evening time slots are currently filled, although I do have very limited availability after 5 pm on Monday and Tuesday evenings. Please call or email to enquire about scheduling and intake session.

What are your office policies for COVID-19?

Since the beginning of the COVID19 pandemic I am conducting all sessions via secure video telehealth. In office appointments are not available at this time. You will be able to receive the same high quality therapy you would in the office from the comfort of your own home.

What does MSSW, LCSW mean?

These letters represent my education and licensure levels. MSSW is short for Master of Science in Social Work. I received my MSSW from the University of Louisville (GO Cards!). I also earned my Bachelor of Arts in Social Work from University of Missouri-Saint Louis. LCSW stands for Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I am licensed by the North Carolina Social Work Certification and Licensure Board and am independently licensed to practice in the state of North Carolina.

Do you take insurance? What are your fees?

While I am in the process of being credentialed with Blue Cross Blue Shield NC, I am currently in network with the majority of Cigna, UHC and Aetna plans. All other insurances are out of network, private pay only. Some clients may occasionally receive partial reimbursement of their session fee if they submit documentation to their insurance company for an Out Of Network claim.

My private pay fees are as follows:

$185.00 for a 90min to 2hr intake appointment.

$130.00 for 50 min individual therapy appointment.

I have a few sliding scale spots for clients in extreme financial need. All sliding scale spots are currently full.

What trauma specific evidenced based therapies are you certified in?

I am certified in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) at the basic level. “ART is an evidence–based novel psychotherapy that fosters rapid recovery by reprogramming how the brain stores traumatic memories and imagery. ART has roots in and includes elements of existing evidenced-based modalities. The treatment program incorporates memory visualization techniques that are enhanced by the use of horizontal eye movements, as well as memory reconsolidating, a way in which new information is incorporated into existing memories.” – ART International

Do you work with hospice?

I am happy to assist families and patients who are entering hospice or have recently been diagnosed with terminal illnesses. My clients utilize therapy to make the difficult, but necessary, decisions to plan for the best possible end of life experience. As a former hospice social worker, I am aware of the difficulties that families face during the hospice journey. Many hospice agencies offer brief counseling support for patients and their families. However, some people benefit from individual counseling outside of the hospice frame work to address complex situations or difficult family dynamics. I am happy to assist in coordinating your care and emotional needs as you or your family member enters the active dying stage. It is never too early to emotionally prepare for end of life decisions and challenges. Anticipatory grief is normal in the emotional process of loss and deserves to be attended to with compassion.
